The hallmark of my brownie is the use of fresh bread crumbs as a slip topping. Why is this important? This means that if you’ve got some summer fruit and a few slices of sandwich bread and are about to run out, you’re just a few steps away from dessert. Any soft piece of bread will work, but white bread is particularly suitable because of its inherent sweetness; When dipped in sugar and warm spices and coated with melted butter, it evokes the nostalgic flavors of cinnamon toast. Serve the finished pita with vanilla ice cream for a hot and cold meal that’s fruity and creamy.
